Brisbane's geography is famously, violently dictated by the incredible, looping meanders of the massive Brisbane River. The river acts less like a straight channel and more like an endless series of deep 'U' turns, forcefully carving the city into a series of deeply isolated peninsulas, completely dictating where massive bridges and dense grids can physically be built.

The central business district is tightly jammed into the very tip of one of these massive river loops, directly across from the sprawling, brutalist South Bank arts complex.
