About Lisbon
Lisbon is majestically draped across exactly seven incredibly steep hills, tumbling down violently to the wide, sparkling estuary of the Tagus River. The city's post-earthquake history is violently clear on the map: the perfectly ruler-straight, grid-iron streets of the Baixa district sit completely trapped between the chaotic, ancient, winding Moorish alleys of Alfama and Bairro Alto on either side.
